Tehran

SOME 17 people were killed and 23 injured when a plane caught fire while landing at Mashhad in north-east Iran yesterday, state news agency, IRNA, said.

An airport official said there were 153 people on board the Russian-made Ilyushin aircraft, which had flown to Mashhad from Tehran.
